by Lux Cache
A complete harmonic playground, in your DAW or on its own. midi studio+ reads your MIDI — key, chords, degrees — then suggests, reharmonises and redesigns it, one audition at a time.

studio+ bundle
sample studio+ for audio, midi studio+ for MIDI — plugins and Ableton extensions both, lifetime updates.

midi studio+ puts a harmony brain and iterative modulation engine wherever you work: see the key, chords and degrees of any clip — even audio — then flicks through smart, theory-based suggestions, rebuild the changes with chord blocks, play with pitch and rhythm processing — and, as the Ableton extension, write it back into the session.
analyse → suggest → harmonise → design → export

read the clip
The lens Live is missing: the detected key with an honest confidence %, the chord over every bar with its roman-numeral degree, scale rows shaded, out-of-key notes flagged red. Hover a note for its degree. Works on MIDI, drum grooves — even audio.
six methods of analysis
Open any clip — a right-click away in Live — and the analyse lens lays the theory over your notes: read-only, instant, honest about how sure it is.

01 key
the detected key, with an honest confidence % — and a manual override

02 chords
the chord over every bar, named

03 degrees
roman-numeral degrees — watch the ii–V–I go by

04 out-of-key
stray notes flagged red, scale rows shaded

05 drums
grooves read as drums — no fake keys on a beat

06 audio
audio in — the notes sensed straight off a recording
effects you can play
Sixteen effect blocks — eight for pitch on the note field, eight for rhythm on the lane below — and every one leaves its colour on the notes it touches. Drag to place and stretch, ∗ to surprise yourself, randomise all for a new direction. Then quantise the grid and humanize the feel back in.

gravity
A pull on the pitches — drag its curve right on the roll.
shimmer
Sprinkle octave sparkle over the top of the part.
sus
Lean the chords toward sus2 or sus4, as far as you drag.
pedal
Hold a pedal tone under the phrase while the top keeps moving.
ratchet
Repeat hits into rolls — up to ×16 where the block reaches.
strum
Fan stacked notes apart like a strummed chord, in milliseconds.
echo
Trail repeats off the notes — a delay drawn in MIDI.
bend
Warp the timing across the block — rushes and slow-downs.
+ many more — shift · octave · harmony · color · gate · swing · chop · push
smarter audio-to-midi
Open any audio clip in midi studio+ (in Live, a right-click) — the notes are sensed straight off the recording, chords named over the waveform, with sense and min controls to tune how it listens. Then take it anywhere: suggestions, reharmony, the design blocks, and out as real MIDI.
one tool, many features
the harmony lens
Key, chords, degrees and out-of-key — over any clip, MIDI or audio. The theory layer Ableton never drew.
smart suggestions
Theory-based edits, one at a time, ranked — a/b each against the original and apply only what earns it.
chord-block reharmony
Your progression as blocks: click for choices, hear each one, lock the keepers, restyle the rest.
playable effect blocks
Sixteen effect blocks — eight for pitch, eight for rhythm — painting their colour on the notes. Randomise, quantise, humanize.
writes back to your session
To the clip and its duplicates, to new tracks, or to .mid files — named, organised, undoable.
a family affair
Built alongside sample studio+ — same design language, same window, same care. MIDI gets its studio too.
one clip in, endless directions out.

before you buy
Both, in one purchase. A standalone app and a VST3 / AU plugin (macOS: standalone + VST3 + AU; Windows: standalone + VST3), plus the .ablx extension for Ableton Live. Same tools either way — the extension adds the Live integration: open it with a right-click on a clip, and write your changes straight back into the session.
As of the new Live 12.4.5 Suite, extensions are single-file tools that plug into Ableton to improve workflows and native integrations. Find out more on Ableton’s site.
Install the standalone or the plugin from the download, or drag the .ablx straight into Ableton (Live 12’s Extensions SDK makes it a seconds-long job). Either way it’s one window: read the key and chords, flick through suggestions, reharmonise, design. In Live it’s a right-click away on any MIDI clip, and writes back into the session.
macOS or Windows. The standalone runs on its own; the plugin loads in any VST3 / AU host. The Ableton extension is the one with a requirement of its own: Live 12 Suite (12.4.5 beta or later) with Extensions enabled, since extensions are a Suite-only feature.
Any MIDI clip, in Session or Arrangement. Point it at audio and the analyse lens still works — the notes are sensed straight off the recording.
MIDI — into the clip itself (and its duplicates, if you choose), onto new tracks in Session or Arrangement, or out to .mid files with a naming schema and a live file-list preview. All of it undoable.
Honest by design: the detected key shows its confidence % right on screen, with a one-click manual override. Drum grooves are read as drums rather than given a fake key, and suggestions are auditioned — never auto-applied. You stay the judge.
