play audio in and the library answers it in real time: a drum loop re-laid as a mosaic of samples you already own, a bassline sung back in the library’s own voice.

    every grain that comes back is a file already on the disk, matched against what it heard as it arrived.

sound design drawn straight onto a sample’s waveform. up to three effect blocks at a time, each one shaped across the stretch of sound it covers, then flattened in and built on again.

    vol, sub, sweep, filter, shift, noise, pitch, grain, ring and smear, each with its own automation curve.

  • a stretch of the sample

    a block covers the part of the sound it is placed over: move it, resize it, bend its curve, fade its edges.

  • render and keep going

    flatten the chain into the sample and the three slots free up, so the next pass builds on the last.

  • or roll the dice

    let it build the chain, then take over wherever it landed.

One part of petri, on its own. petri is a whole sample-library environment; each mini takes a single rail out of it and ships it as its own small plugin, with the same library underneath and none of the rest.
No. Each mini is a complete plugin on its own, and does not require petri to be used on its own. For petri owners, the minis automatically link with your maps and settings, with no rescanning or import needed.
No. A full purchase of petri contains all three, and you will find them already unlocked in your downloads. These are for people who want one part of it rather than the whole environment.
keys and design load as instruments and take MIDI: keys plays your library from a keyboard, and design previews the sound it is shaping. concatenative loads as an audio effect instead, because the track it sits on is what it answers. All three also run as standalone apps.
macOS or Windows. The plugins load in any VST3 / AU host; the standalone runs on its own.
Yes. Point any of them at your own folders and they map them alongside the sample content Lux Cache ships with each one. This feature is not available in the free demo.
Yes. Every mini has a free demo that never expires, running on the sample content it ships with. Importing your own folders is the part the demo leaves out.
The same way petri does: a short sign-in step in the app, tied to your Lux Cache account, rather than a serial number. A luxcache.com subscription is not required. A licence covers up to three machines at once, and you can free a seat from your account whenever you switch computers.It needs an internet connection for that first authorisation only. Once a machine is authorised it never needs to go online again to keep working: no periodic reauthorisation, no time limit.
